About this blog

At some point in spring or summer 2010, I will be cycling 1000 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats. I plan to do this on my own and “unsupported” (i.e – I will be carrying a tent and cooking stuffs on my bike and camping, not staying in hostels/ B&B’s).

For those who don’t know me; I live in England although I come from Scotland; I love cycling (always a bonus when doing something like this) and being outdoors. I paint and draw and write and play guitar and grow plants and take photographs and make wine in my kitchen and I love eating. (I would have said ‘I love food’, but then what pleasure is there from food without eating it?! But to ‘love eating’ makes me sound like a glutton. Perhaps I am). I care about things like recycling and sustainable energy, the value of art and the uniqueness of people. I don’t care much for poncing about and pretending to be something you’re not.

I set this blog up as a way of organising myself and logging the preparation for the challenge , so I’ll be blogging about running and kit and anything else that is even vaguely connected to getting me fit and prepared- it means I am more likely to carry it through, no excuses to back out now!

I will be raising money for Mind, using Http://www.justgiving.com/freewheeling.

  1. If you do this around the end of March beginning of April you may go flying past a madman walking from Glasgow to Reading. http://blethyn.blogspot.com/2009/10/another-long-way-down.html
    That’d be me!
